“Chiuri”, commonly known as Butter tree, is a deciduous medium size tree about 20 meters high native to Nepal. Its botanical name is Diploknema Butyracea (Roxb.) H.J. Lam. Belonging to Sapotaceae family.
“Chiuri Butter” is the butter that is made by extracting from the seed of the fruit hanging on the tree. The butter has the composition of Palmitic acid, Palmitoleic acid, Stearic acid, Oleic acid, Linoleic acid, Arachidic acid and Vitamin E. There is huge potential for commercial utilization of Chiuri butter in different areas such as: Confectionery, Cooking oil, Candle manufacturing, Soap making.
