Catechu or Cutch also known as Kattha is a concentrate or extract of Acacia trees utilized variously as a food additive, astringent, tannin, and dye. It is extracted from several species of Acacia, but especially Senegalia catechu (Acacia catechu), by boiling the wood in water and evaporating the resulting brew. Since ancient times, it has been used in Ayurvedic medicine as well as breath-freshening spice mixtures. It is also an important recipe in a food called “Paan” in South Asia. This product is a slab or biscuit of cutch, which is triple-filtered and made by the machine in the weight of approximately 300-400 grams per slab or biscuit, which is purely made by Khair Heart Wood or Acacia Catechu.
